Itinerary

Our journey to the short Annapurna Circuit Trek (8 Days) begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Chame in a comfortable tourist bus. Before reaching Chame, we also go past a beautiful settlement in the Gandaki Province of Nepal. The distance between Kathmandu and Chame is about 200 kilometers and it takes about 10 to 12 hours for us to reach there. The representatives from Global Adventure Trekking pick you up from your hotel and take you on the drive.

We pass through several rivers, waterfalls, and settlements via the Kathmandu-Pokhara highway. We take a right turn from a place named Dumre which leads us to Besisahar. The road is well-paved and continues along the Marsyangdi River corridor. As we reach Besisahar, we will take a short break. Moreover, the drive from Besisahar to Chame will be done in a shared local jeep. Also, remember that the route leading from Besisahar to Chame is difficult as we need to go along the off-road path.

The Global Adventure Trekking team will arrange dinner and overnight stay in a hotel or lodge in Chame.

The second day marks the beginning of the walking journey in the short Annapurna Circuit Trekking map as we ascend from Chame to Pisang. As the trekkers have their breakfast in the hotel, the guides lead them on a route with exquisite views of Lamjung Himal (6893 meters). As we walk a few kilometers, the route passes through a huge apple orchard. A little more to walk and then the route mixes into a valley that rises drastically before reaching a settlement named Bhratang (2950 meters).

From Bhratang, the short Annapurna Circuit Trekking trail takes a different trail as we pass through a wooden bridge and enter a narrow and sloping route. Remember that, we need to walk for about 6 to 7 hours to cover the total distance of 15 to 18 kilometers between Chame and Pisang. Throughout the day, the trekkers find themselves passing through multiple pine forests, crossing several bridges over different rivers, and playing hide and seek with the mountains.

However, as you reach Pisang, you will notice that it is a small yet beautiful village, settled by traditional houses and distinguished by a long Mani Wall. Take your time to explore the village and interact with the locals before having dinner and sleeping for the night.

As you reach this place, you can find yourself in the village surrounded by different peaks including the Chulu East Peak (6584 meters). Moreover, you will also see some agriculture and herding of yaks. Other than that, the place consists of traditionally settled by Gurung and Ghales.

Yes, in the 8-Day Annapurna Circuit Trek package, the Global Adventure Trekking team manages an acclimatisation day in Manang. Remember that acclimatisation is very important in any type of adventurous journey like the short trek on the Annapurna Circuit. However, a rest day does not mean that we will stay idle for the entire day. Instead, our guides will take you on a quick stroll around the town and also take you on day hikes.

During the day, you will also cross the Marshyangdi River and get the mesmerising view of the icefall from the Annapurna. Moreover, the journey on this day also takes us on a hike far beyond the village to take in a comprehensive view of both the Annapurna range and the Manang Valley.

We recommend the trekkers stay highly aware of altitude sickness because we will be higher in altitude. By the evening, the trekkers will return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

As we walk for 5 hours and cover a total distance of 8 kilometers, we finally reach Thorong Phedi. We begin this section of the short Annapurna Circuit Trek with a moderate climb to a mountaintop and then head down towards the headwaters of Marsyangdi River. From there, we ascend towards a narrow trail before descending to Thorong Phedi. This is a beautiful place at an altitude of 4925 meters above sea level. If lucky enough, trekkers can also enjoy playing with snow in this destination. Explore the nearby area and interact with the locals before having dinner and spending the night.

After that, the trekkers will ascend even more and reach Thorong La Pass, located at an altitude of 5416 meters. It takes about 4 to 5 hours for us to reach Thorong La Pass.

This section of the route is quite difficult but the views you get to enjoy and the thrills and chills this route offers are just out-of-this-world. Walking past the snow-covered route while getting the magical views of the snow-capped high-topped mountains make you forget the tiredness. Within about 7 to 8 hours we reach from Thorong Phedi to Muktinath via Thorong La Pass, where the trekkers will spend the night.

However, before that, we recommend the trekkers visit the Muktinath temple and immerse themselves in the holy, peaceful, and religious significance of this temple. You will meet many Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims chanting different mantras and offering their pilgrimage to the temple. Moreover, the trekkers shall also shower under the 108 taps in the Muktinath temple. As per the Hindu and Buddhist beliefs showering under these 108 taps can help you wash away the sins.
