Chitwan Safari Tour from Kathmandu

The Chitwan Tour from Kathmandu is the fastest and most comfortable way to reach the Chitwan National Park. The trip starts with a scenic domestic flight from Kathmandu Airport to Bharatpur Airport, around 98 km (61 miles) in just 20-25 minutes.

Upon your arrival in Bharatpur, you will be transferred by private vehicle to your luxury jungle resort near Chitwan National Park. Flying will save you a lot of time, and with more time on your hands, you will have more time to enjoy wildlife activities and relax in your premium accommodation.

The perfect choice for travelers short on time, luxury seekers, honeymooners, or families who desire an effortless safari experience. Within hours of leaving Kathmandu, you can be enjoying a riverside sunset, a VIP resort, and the natural beauty of Nepal's premier wildlife destination.

Enjoy a Chitwan tour from Kathmandu with a stay in style at a luxury jungle retreat. At the same time, you go on guided private jeep safaris, mesmerizing canoe rides, birdwatching excursions, therapeutic nature walks, and authentic Tharu cultural experiences. If you have any questions regarding this Chitwan Jungle Safari, do not hesitate to WhatsApp us or send an inquiry.

Chitwan Safari Tour from Pokhara

The Chitwan Safari Tour from Pokhara is an excellent way to combine Nepal's stunning mountain landscapes with its most rewarding wildlife destination. This journey takes you from the lakeside city of Pokhara to the subtropical forests of Chitwan National Park in the comfort of a private luxury vehicle.

Flights used to operate between Pokhara and Bharatpur but are not now available due to low passenger demand. Therefore, all tours to Chitwan from Pokhara are by road transportation. Fortunately, the road trip itself is comfortable and scenic, making it a pleasant part of the overall experience.

The drive covers approximately 160 km and takes around 4 to 5 hours, depending on traffic. The route follows the scenic Prithvi Highway through river valleys and hillside villages before connecting with the Mugling-Narayanghat Highway and continuing into the fertile plains of southern Nepal.

Since there is no need to fly internally, the total cost of a Chitwan tour from Pokhara is generally lower than that of a luxury Chitwan tour from Kathmandu with flights. On arrival, you will check into a premium jungle resort and start your exclusive wildlife experience.

Unlike standard tourist transportation, this luxury Chitwan safari package includes a private vehicle exclusively for you and your companions, ensuring maximum comfort, flexibility, and privacy throughout the journey. Along the way, enjoy spectacular views of the Marsyangdi and Trishuli river corridors, traditional settlements, terraced farmlands, and Nepal's diverse landscapes.

Upon arrival in Chitwan, check into your luxury jungle resort and begin your exclusive wildlife experience. Over the next three days, enjoy guided jeep safaris, canoe rides, birdwatching excursions, nature walks, and cultural encounters with the local Tharu community. If you are returning home from the Annapurna base camp trek and staying in Pokhara, you can add a luxury Chitwan safari to your Nepal experience. It is a refreshing change from the stunning scenery of the Himalayas to the wildlife and peaceful jungles of the Terai.

For travelers already exploring Pokhara, this luxury Chitwan Jungle Safari Tour offers the perfect transition from the Himalayan foothills to the wilderness of Chitwan National Park, creating a memorable journey that showcases two of Nepal's most iconic destinations. Reserve your seat for travel from Pokhara to Chitwan.

Luxury Jungle Retreat: Wildlife Safari of Chitwan National Park

Chitwan National Park, Nepal’s first national park, is one of Asia’s most famous wildlife destinations. The park covers 952 square kilometers of subtropical forest, grassland, wetlands, and river systems and boasts an amazing variety of wildlife. This luxurious wildlife tour in Nepal gives you the chance to explore a variety of habitats and see some of Nepal’s most iconic animals in their natural habitat.

Big Mammals & Predators

Chitwan National Park is home to 68 mammal species, most popular for its population of endangered one-horned rhinos, one of the most sought-after wildlife sightings of Nepal. The park is also home to Royal Bengal tigers and is one of the best places in South Asia to look for these elusive predators.

This private wildlife safari in Chitwan National Park offers jeep safaris and nature walks that often provide sightings of other large mammals such as Asian elephants, sloth bears, leopards, Bengal foxes, spotted deer (chital), barking deer, sambar deer, wild boars, langur monkeys, rhesus macaques, and gaur (Indian bison). Tiger and leopard sightings are never guaranteed, but experienced naturalist guides maximize opportunities to see wildlife in a safe and responsible way.

Reptiles & Aquatic Species

Guided safari tours in Chitwan’s rivers, oxbow lakes, and wetlands are home to a variety of reptiles and aquatic life. Visitors on canoe rides on the Rapti River are often treated to views of mugger crocodiles sunbathing on the riverbanks and the critically endangered gharial crocodile, identifiable by its long, narrow snout.

Other reptiles in the park include monitor lizards, pythons, cobras, kraits, and several species of freshwater turtle. The waterways also sustain a variety of fish and aquatic ecosystems, which add to the park’s extraordinary biodiversity.

Birds of Chitwan National Park

The Chitwan National Park tour is a birdwatcher’s paradise with over 600 recorded bird species. The park’s grasslands, forests, wetlands, and riverbanks provide ideal habitats for resident and migratory birds throughout the year.

Typical birds are peacocks, kingfishers, hornbills, storks, egrets, herons, woodpeckers, drongos, grey-crowned prinias, Gould’s sunbirds, parakeets, and various birds of prey. Visitors may also be lucky enough to see rare species like the Bengal florican, the giant hornbill, the lesser adjutant stork, and several species of eagle.

Whether you are an avid birdwatcher or just a casual nature lover, the birdlife in Chitwan adds yet another memorable dimension to your luxury three-day wildlife experience in Nepal.

In the evening, enjoy a traditional Tharu cultural program with colorful costumes along with jewelry, folk music, and the iconic stick and fire dance, which gives a good insight into the cultural richness of the area.

Sunset Experience on River Rapti

One of the most memorable and peaceful moments of the tour is watching the sunset over the Rapti River. The peaceful riverside setting, beach-vibe sand, and stones around the area, combined with views of the surrounding wilderness, create a perfect opportunity to unwind and appreciate the natural beauty of Chitwan.

Leisure & Relaxation at the Jungle Resort

Beyond the safari activities, guests can relish the facilities and hospitality of their luxury jungle resort. Relax by the swimming pool, revel in beautifully landscaped gardens, savor a high-end dining experience, or simply unwind amidst the tranquil surroundings of Nepal's premier wildlife destination.

Essential Information

Best Time to Visit Chitwan National Park

Chitwan National Park is a year-round destination, but different seasons bring different wildlife experiences, weather conditions, and safari comfort levels. Choosing the right time helps you avail yourself of the best of your splendor in Chitwan jungle travel.

The best time to visit Chitwan is during the autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May). The weather is pleasant, the skies are clear, and Chitwan’s sightseeing of wildlife is at its peak during these months. Birdwatching conditions are excellent, and jeep safaris and canoe rides are particularly enjoyable.

Travelling to Chitwan in the winter months (December to February) can be ideal, as the weather is cooler and there are fewer tourists, making it more comfortable for jungle activities. But it can be cool in the morning and evenings.

The monsoon (June to August) time during the Chitwan trip means heavy rains, a lush green landscape, and a calmer jungle environment. Some safari activities may be limited due to weather conditions, but this is the best time for those who want to avoid crowds of tourists and see a greener landscape.

Beyond rhinos and tigers, Chitwan National Park is home to 68 mammal species. Common sightings include Asian elephants, spotted deer, sambar deer, hog deer, wild boars, langur monkeys, rhesus macaques, sloth bears, Bengal foxes, mugger crocodiles, and gharial crocodiles.
