*Note: If you don’t find our airport representative at the arrival terminal, please contact Rajan Dahal at 9841527668.

Today, you will travel to Pokhara in a luxurious tourist bus. During this 6 to 8 hours bus journey (depending on the road and traffic conditions), you will find beautiful views of Nepal's diverse landscapes.

Your journey winds along the Prithivi Highway, where you will find traditional roadside villages, terraced farmlands, and bustling highway market towns. You will follow the Trishuli and the scenic Marshyangdi before eventually trailing alongside the Seti River as you approach Pokhara. If the weather is clear, you will find stunning views of the Manaslu and Annapurna ranges.

As you journey through iconic highway towns like Mugling, Dumre, and Abukhaireni, you will reach Pokhara by late afternoon. Take some time to rest and freshen up at your hotel. In the evening, you can stroll along the vibrant Phewa Lake or spend a relaxing evening before heading for dinner.

Today's itinerary consists of a short drive and a trek. You will begin your journey from Pokhara to Tikkhedunga across the winding highway. The journey gives you occasional glimpses of the majestic Annapurna Range (Annapurna South - 7,219m), Dhaulagiri (8,167m), and Lamjung Himal (6,983m). From Tikhedhunga, prepare for an ascent to Ulleria challenging but rewarding climb up 3,300+ stone steps carved into the mountainside. This iconic staircase trails through lush rhododendron forests. You will find rest stops at several locations, which allow you to catch your breath and admire the valley views. The effort pays off as you reach Ulleri (1,960m), a charming Magar village with sweeping Himalayan panoramas.

Overnight stay in Ulleri.

The trek from Ulleri to Ghorepani starts with an ascent over stone steps. On the way, you will go across dense rhododendron and oak forests and pass through several villages, including Banthali and Nangethanti.

In Ghorepani, you can spend the evening enjoying the region’s natural beauty, gazing at the beautiful Annapurna South and Hiunchuli, or gather by the firewood Chimney at your teahouse/lodge, sharing stories of your trip.

Your day begins with an early morning trek before dawn. The journey to Poon Hill goes over stone steps to the iconic viewpoint. You will get an incredible sunrise from Poon Hill with a panoramic vista of the The Annapurna I (8,091m) and Dhaulagiri (8,167m) stand as the 8,000-meter highlights, with additional Himalayan vistas including Annapurna South (7,219m), Hiunchuli (6,441m), and Lamjung Himal (6,983m).

After the sunrise trek, you will return to the Ghorepani tea house for breakfast. You will then head to Tadhapani via Deurali. The trail leading to Tadhapani takes you through several ascents and descents across dense rhododendron and oak forests, farmlands, and cascading waterfalls.

Your trek to Chhumrong is quite leisurely compared to the previous days. You will be mostly traveling on a downhill path across rhododendron and oak forests. The trek also gives a beautiful view of the Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail).

During the trek, you will cross Modi Khola and stop for lunch in a small ethnic village. After lunch, you will continue your trek toward Chhumrong. Chhumrong is a Gurung village and the gateway to the Annapurna Base Camp.

The trek to the Himalaya Hotel begins with a downhill journey and gradually ascends toward Sinuwa. From Sinuwa, you will travel on a flat surface until Khuldi Ghar before descending to Bamboo.

Bamboo is a charming village located between massive boulders and forests. In Bamboo, monkeys swinging in the treetops accompany you to the Himalaya Hotel. Overnight stay in the Himalaya Hotel.

Today is the main highlight of the trek. You will journey to two iconic spots – the Machhapuchhre Base Camp and the Annapurna Base Camp. Compared to the previous day, the distance of today’s hike is short. However, these are the most challenging sections and will test your endurance.

Once you reach the Annapurna Base Camp trek vantage point, you will get magnificent views of the Annapurna range, including Annapurna I, Annapurna South, and Annapurna III. You can also enjoy the wonderful panorama of the surrounding Machhapuchhre, Gandhvarva Chuli, Himchuli, and Tent Peak.

Tonight, you will sleep in a teahouse in the Annapurna Base Camp, in the middle of a natural amphitheater, surrounded by magnificent peaks.

After a week of trekking, you will finally begin your descent to a lower altitude. But before you leave, you will enjoy a magnificent sunrise view from the Annapurna Base Camp from your teahouse/lodge.

After breakfast, you will start your journey to Bamboo. The route between the Annapurna Base Camp and Bamboo is known for its diverse wildlife. If luck is on your side, you may encounter animals such as the Himalayan Tahr, mountain goats, and deer.

After 6 hours, you will reach Bamboo, where you will spend the night.

The Bamboo to Jhinu Danda passes through dense jungle, offering views of the surrounding mountains. Along the way, you will pass charming villages and experience the distinct local cultures and lifestyles.

The route to Jhinu Danda requires you to climb back up the steep stone steps to Chhomrong first, then begin your descent to Jhinu village. Check in at your teahouse and rest your bags.

After a brief rest, you can take a 15-minute journey to the Jhinu Danda Hot Springs. The hot springs are known for their therapeutic properties and give you a relaxing sensation after a long Annapurna Base Camp trek.

You have come to the end of your Himalayan expedition. After breakfast at Jhinu Danda, you will begin your descent and gradually pass Ghandruk Phedi. From here, you will hike on the flat terrains of Birethanti before stopping for lunch. After lunch, continue toward Naya Pul. From here, you can take a local jeep journey toward Pokhara, bidding farewell to the serene Himalayas.

Note: If you prefer not to walk, you may opt for a shared local jeep at an additional cost. Consult your guide to arrange this alternative.

After breakfast in Pokhara, you will head toward Kathmandu in a luxury tour bus. The departure time from Pokhara is 7:30 am, and you’re expected to reach Kathmandu at around 5 pm.

Prepare for departure from Nepal. Our representative will pick you up from your hotel at least 3 hours before your scheduled flight time.

Essential Information

What can you expect from the 13 Day Annapurna Base Camp Trek with GAT?

Trekking is not considered adventurous and amazing just because of the route. To make any trekking journey exciting and adventurous, trekkers must be well-guided, and properly treated, and their needs and requirements are taken care of. All these things are properly addressed by the Global Adventure Trekking team. Besides, there are a lot of things that trekkers can expect from the 13 Day Annapurna Base Camp Trek:

  • You can expect to be on one of the easy yet adventurous and adrenaline-rushing trekking routes in the Himalayas of Nepal.
  • Trekkers with less experience can expect a perfect trail to practice for other base camp treks like the Everest Base Camp Trek.
  • You can expect to be on one of the most developed base camp trekking routes in the entire country.
  • With the Global Adventure Trekking team, you can expect to learn so much more about the entire Annapurna region.
  • Before and after the walk to the ABC, trekkers can expect a lovely, momentful, and refreshing stay in Pokhara lakeside.
  • Whether you are a first-time trekker or a professional one, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek offers the best route to experience walking by the base of the Himalayas.

How Difficult is the Annapurna Base Camp Trek?

Annapurna Base Camp Trek is considered as a moderately difficult trekking route in the Himalayas of Nepal. If you choose the right season and seasoned trekking agency for the ABC trek, the route might be moderate but it will be highly enjoyable, adventurous, and safe. If you are a beginner-level trekker and want to go for a slightly thrilling walk, Annapurna Base Camp Trek is the best option.

Make sure that you do proper research, prepare in the best way possible, and follow the instructions provided by the guides before and while ascending on the 13 Day Annapurna Base Camp Trek. If you want to go for the ABC Trekking journey, you must strongly believe that this is not an easy trek and neither is this a very difficult trekking route. Therefore, the difficulty level of the Annapurna Base Camp trek highly depends upon the preparation, fitness level, and enthusiasm of the trekkers. That being said, we should also be aware of the external factors like weather, climate, season, transportation, etc that can impact the difficulty level of the 13 Day Trek to Annapurna Base Camp Trek.

What is the transportation medium during the Annapurna Base Camp Trek?

As this is a trekking package, transportation is mostly done walking rather than any other medium. However, to go from Kathmandu to Pokhara, Pokhara to Nayapul, from Kilu to Pokhara, and finally from Pokhara to Kathmandu, trekkers will have to take a tourist bus and private vehicle. The Global Adventure Trekking team takes the trekkers from Kathmandu to Pokhara on the second day via a tourist bus. On the third day, we drive from Pokhara to Nayapul (Starting point of the ABC Trek). After the trek is done, we return from Kilu to Pokhara in a private vehicle and then from Pokhara to Kathmandu in a tourist bus.

Our team ensures that the buses and private vehicles used for the transportation of the trekkers during the Annapurna Base Camp Trek are safety-checked. Moreover, we also make sure that the drivers are professional licence holders and have high experience in driving on long routes. Overall, the transportation facilities during the Annapurna Base Camp Trek are well-managed and safe.

Preparation for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek

As the trek to the Annapurna Base Camp is not a tactical or technical one, trekkers will not have to go through the most extreme levels of preparation. Instead, the ascend only requires basic level preparation but remember, this only applies to the trekkers with "at least some" experience in trekking or hiking. So, if you are completely new to trekking and are straight up hitting this trail, make sure that you prepare very well.

Besides, here are a few ways to prepare for the 13 Day Annapurna Base Camp Trek with Global Adventure Trekking:

  • Trekkers must be careful about their physical and mental fitness and readiness. Without these two preparations, ascending to the Annapurna Base Camp Trek or any other trekking route in Nepal might just be a dream.
  • Focus on the strength of your legs because this particular trek requires an average of 5-6 hours of walking every day.
  • Drink adequate water to keep your body away from the risks of dehydration, high blood pressure, and several other issues.
  • Study the entire map of the Annapurna Base Camp Trekking route before you hit the trail for better reference and understanding.
  • If you are new to trekking, we suggest the trekkers at least go for a few day hikes and other hikes in the Annapurna region before hitting this trail to the base camp.
  • Prioritize engaging yourself in cardiovascular exercises like running, cycling, working out, playing football, skipping, etc to give a boost to your stamina and endurance.
  • For better flexibility of the body, we recommend trekkers to go for yoga practices along with meditation to keep themselves at a mentally peaceful state.

Be prepared with all the gear, equipment, and all the warm clothes for the trek to Annapurna Base Camp.

Best Seasons to Go for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Are you excited to ascend the Annapurna Base Camp route but confused about which season to choose? Well, as per the mountaineering and trekking experts, the Himalayas are best explored in the Spring or Autumn season for a pleasant and comfortable journey. However, if you want to go on a challenging journey and snow and ice are what you like to play with, the winter season is also good. You can analyze the best season for the ABC Trek for yourself by studying the points below:

Spring (March-May) and Autumn (September to November) Season

The spring season and the autumn season are considered as the best seasons to explore the Himalayas in Nepal. Due to clear skies and pleasant weather, trekkers can count this time of the year as the best to ascend on any base camps, circuit treks, or other treks and tours in Nepal. Ascending to the Annapurna Base Camp Trek during these two seasons offers you the most magical views of the landscapes and the Himalayas especially. Besides, the journey is also significantly comfortable as all the tea houses, hotels, and guesthouses are open during the Spring and Autumn seasons.

Winter Season (November to February)

If you are a thrill lover and want to spend the most out of your adrenaline, the winter season is also perfect for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. In Nepal, the month from November to February experiences winter. However, we do not suggest the trekkers go for the ABC Trek during the winter of January or February. Ascending to the altitude of 4130 meters is best done until December in the winter season. In the winter season, trekkers need to go through the most difficult circumstances like extreme temperatures, instantly and suddenly changing weather conditions, and fewer tea houses and hotels serving.

As an advantage, this is the perfect time for the trekkers to play with the show and experience snowfall at such high temperatures. So, if you are not afraid of raising some extra adrenaline and enjoying the adventure with a few obstacles, you can book the Annapurna Base Camp Trek with GAT in the winter season as well.

Food and Accommodation during the 13 Day Annapurna Base Camp Trek

When in Nepal, you must try authentic Nepali cuisines; Thakali Khana Set or Nepali Khana Set. Most of the hotels and guesthouses serve this for lunch and dinner. Whether you are eating in Kathmandu, Pokhara, or anywhere in the trekking route, this is what you can expect for lunch and dinner. In Kathmandu and Pokhara, trekkers can expect a comparatively higher number of food options than in the trekking route. For breakfast, you will be served food items like bread, eggs, jam, peanut butter, coffee, tea, and so much more. The decrease in the food options is significant as we ascend higher. However, the Global Adventure Trekking team makes sure that there is no compromise in the quality and hygiene of the food.

Talking about the accommodation during the 13 Day Annapurna Base Camp Trek, Global Adventure Trekking makes sure to arrange comfortable, cozy, and hygienic guesthouses or hotels for accommodation. Moreover, you can also expect the hotels and guesthouses to serve all the facilities that any trekker needs for the 13-Day ABC Trek.

What other facilities can be expected during the ABC Trek?

Other than the food and accommodation, trekkers also need many other facilities for a comfortable, enjoyable, and worthy trekking journey in the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. The route offers majestic views of the mountains and a pristine experience of being at the base of the Himalayas. However, to walk up to such a high altitude, trekkers require much more than just food and accommodation. Some of the most important requirements in the current scenario are electricity, charging ports, mobile networks, WiFi, and for such cold temperatures, hot water.

The guesthouses and hotels where the GAT team arranges your stay provide all of these facilities to make your journey comfortable, healthy, and hygienic. However, the trekkers might have to pay an extra amount for some or all of these facilities in the higher locations. Other than that, once you book the ABC Trek with Global Adventure Trekking, you can be assured and assured of the provision of all the facilities that you need to make an average trek adventurous and worth the payment you make.

Risks of Altitude Sickness in the Annapurna Base Camp Trekking Route

If you are ascending the Himalayas, one thing that you need to prepare for is altitude sickness. Altitude sickness is one of the most common health issues that can occur once we ascend above an altitude of 2500 to 3000 meters. Therefore, during the 13-day ascend on the Annapurna Base Camp Trekking map, you might suffer from altitude sickness from the fifth or sixth day. If you start feeling the symptoms of altitude sickness, including headache, nausea, loss of appetite, weakness, dizziness, and insomnia, talk to the guide immediately and seek for medical attention.

If you track the symptoms on time and react with safety measures as soon as possible, altitude sickness is not a serious issue. However, if you neglect the starting phase, chances are that you might have to return from the middle of the Annapurna Base Camp Trekking route. Here are a few of the ways to stay safe from altitude sickness:

  • Drink an adequate amount of water to keep your body hydrated 24/7 throughout the ascend.
  • Start and continue the trek with a slow pace and retrieve from rushing during the ascending journey.
  • Make sure to maintain a healthy diet as much as possible. For better results, we suggest the trekkers only have vegetarian food.
  • Carry a medicine named Diamox and have it before ascending to the higher altitude. Remember that Diamox shall be taken to prevent altitude sickness not to cure it.
  • Take care of the acclimatization, rest, and energy required by your body to ascend on the ABC Trekking trail.
  • If you experience any symptoms of altitude sickness, immediately talk to the guides and seek health assistance.

Packing is for sure one of the most important factors of a successful Annapurna Base Camp Trek.
