Encircled by a giant mountain above eight thousand meters, Mt. Annapurna 1st lies 46 km. from the beautiful lake city of Pokhara. Annapurna Sanctuary lies in the Annapurna Conservation Area, whose elevation is 4,130 m, which is a protected area known for its diverse flora and fauna.

Annapurna Sanctuary Trek Highlights

  • Experience the snowcapped mountains with diverse flora and fauna.
  • Visit the Annapurna Base Camp and Machhapuchhre Base Camp
  • Enjoy the sunrise above an 8,000-meter mountain from Annapurna Sanctuary
  • Walk about 10 to 15 km beside the snow-fed river
  • The world's largest Rhododendron Forest in Ghorepani
  • Visit the famous Poon Hill for the best Sunrise view
  • The most popular trekking experience in Nepal

The Annapurna Sanctuary Trek typically starts from Nayapul after a short drive from Pokhara and passes through terraced rice fields, picturesque villages, green forests, and cascading waterfalls. As you ascend, you are rewarded with snow-capped mountains, including Annapurna I (8,091 m/26,538 ft.), Machhapuchre (6,993 m/22,927 ft.), Annapurna Fangs, Gangapurna, Tent Peak, Annapurna II, and many more.

Annapurna's sanctuary trek culminated at 4,200 m (13,776 ft), a natural amphitheater surrounded by the high Himalayas. The views from the sanctuary are extraordinary, and Annapurna I dominates the skyline.

The Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is considered moderately challenging and requires physical fitness. It takes about 8 to 10 days to complete it; however, it depends on the person as well. The food and accommodation are well managed along the trek, with a variety of meals and clean and comfortable twin-sharing private rooms provided.

The best time for Annapurna Sanctuary Trekking

The best time to embark on the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is in the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to December), which are considered the best time when the weather is generally clear and stable, offering excellent views and comfortable trekking conditions. For the daily temperature of the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, please visit the link. The daily walking distance is 10 to 15 km. per day, and the expected time taken is 5 hours a day hiking. The monsoon (June-August) is heavy rain and makes the path wet and slippery, but if you are going for photography, then this might be the best time to visit Annapurna Sanctuary in the winter (December-February). to February) is too cold, and occasionally the guest house and base camp could be closed due to the heavy snow. Upper Mustang, Upper Dolpo, and half of the Annapurna Circuit Trek are recommended, which are said to be under the rain shadow area. Global Adventure Trekking Company highly recommends the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek to combine with the Annapurna Base Camp trek.

What is the cost for 10 days of the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek?

The cost of the 10-day Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is way cheaper than climbing a mountain. The cost depends on the services that you receive. For an idea, the 10-day Annapurna sanctuary costs from 6,00 USD to 1,200 USD per person. The cost includes good standard mountain accommodation, a professional guide, and a porter as per the itinerary. It is important to note that, to my knowledge, the trekking route is updated every season, and the path changes. It is good to consult a reputed trekking company, like Global Adventure Trekking, before planning your trip to Annapurna Sanctuary. Don't hesitate to get in touch with us for the latest updated itinerary, trek cost, and hotel in Kathmandu and Pokhara. Our package offer is competitive for the best level of service and cost.
