This 14-day EBC trek takes you to the foot of the world’s tallest peak – Mount Everest (8,848 meters) as you traverse a diverse terrain and several villages, enjoying the breathtaking landscapes and the region’s culture and tradition.

Your adventure often begins with a thrilling flight to Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla, an airfield historically significant for opening the Everest region and known for its dramatic runway. From the panoramic mountain vistas, including Mount Everest, Lhotse (8,516 meters), Makalu (8,485 meters), and Cho Oyu (8,188 meters), the incredible sight of the glaciers, to the magnificent cultural heritages, including the Buddhist monasteries and traditional Sherpa villages, you will experience them all in this all-inclusive Everest Base Camp trek.

Scenic Everest Base Camp Trekking

You will begin your Nepal Everest Base Camp trek with a scenic 45-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. The flight provides aerial views of the stunning mountain terrains as you experience the rolling hills transition into alpine meadows with distinct high-altitude features.

After reaching Lukla, you will begin your trek following the Khumbu Region routes. You will pass through the beautiful Sagarmatha National Park and reach Namche Bazaar, the trade hub of the Khumbu region. Namche Bazaar also serves at the first acclimatization spot. After Namche, you will continue toward Tengboche, home to the region’s oldest monastery.

The journey continues through Pangboche, Dingboche, and Lobuche before reaching the Mount Everest Base Camp. At the Everest Base Camp, you can enjoy the surrounding landscape and take in the magical views of the vast Khumbu Glacier. However, you will not find the best view of Mount Everest. Hike an additional day to Kalapatthar for an incredible view of the world’s highest peak and a stunning sunrise view.

After the Kalapatthar trek, you will retrace your steps and head downhill toward Lukla. If everything goes according to plan, you will reach Kathmandu via a Lukla flight on the fourteenth day. However, considering the unpredictable weather patterns of the Himalayas, we recommend adding extra buffer days to your itinerary.

Itinerary

Our representatives will welcome you at Kathmandu airport and transfer you to your hotel. Your hotel is in Thamel, the tourist hub of Kathmandu. Depending on the traffic, it can take up to 30 minutes to reach your hotel.

*Note: If you don’t find our airport representative at the arrival terminal, please contact Rajan Dahal at 9841527668.

There are two options to get to Lukla from Kathmandu. The first is a direct early morning flight to Lukla. The flight to Lukla operates only in the early hours of the day due to the strong Himalayan winds in the region. This is accessible during the low seasons. If you can’t find a direct flight to Lukla, you will drive to Manthali, enjoying the scenic views. Due to the 2024 September flood, the roads have been severely damaged and are currently under construction. So, you should carry medicines for motion sickness. From Manthali, you will board a 15-minute flight to the Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla.

After reaching Lukla, you will begin your trek in the Khumbu region. Phakding is your first destination. This trek introduces you to the lower regions of the Everest region, giving you occasional glimpses of the mountains.

*Note: In peak seasons, flights are rerouted to Manthali due to traffic congestion. In this case, you will go on a 4 to 5-hour Ramechap drive. You can avoid the Manthali rerouting and opt for a helicopter flight to Lukla at an additional cost. For Helicopter flight to Everest cost, consult with our representative.

After breakfast in Phakding, you will continue your journey toward Namche Bazaar along the northern banks of the Dudh Koshi River. Along the way, you will cross several suspension bridges, including the iconic Hillary Suspension Bridge. You will also get majestic views of the icy peaks.

En route to Namche Bazaar, you reach the Sagarmatha National Park. Present the required permit at the checkpoint, and head forward through the dense forest ascent. After a few hours of trekking into the Sagarmatha National Park, you will reach Namche Bazaar, the commercial hub of the Khumbu region.

To help your body cope with the increasing altitude, we have arranged for a rest day in Namche Bazaar. This Namche Bazaar acclimatization day is crucial. Optional activities include a popular hike to Everest View Hotel offering panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam, or exploring Sherpa culture in Khumjung village.

Alternatively, you can hike to Khumjung Village for a rich cultural immersion of the Sherpa community and explore the Edmund Hillary School and Khunde Hospital. A hike to the Everest View Hotel is another popular alternative. This is a hotspot to enjoy beautiful mountain views of Mount Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and other surrounding peaks.

Today, you will trek to Tengboche, a popular Buddhist site in the Everest region. The journey takes you across several monuments, including shrines, mani walls, and chortens. You will also hike through lush rhododendron and pine forests, crossing suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River. The trek gives you beautiful views of the tall Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, Mount Everest, and other peaks.

After a 5-hour trek, you will reach Tengboche. You can explore the Dawa Choling Gompa (Tengboche Monastery), the oldest monastery in the Everest Region, and take in its spiritual aura.

Day 6 takes you from Tengboche toward Dingboche (4,400m), marking a noticeable increase in altitude. The trek starts with a descent through rhododendron and birch forests near Debuche. After crossing the Imja Khola, you'll pass Pangboche, offering excellent close-up views of Ama Dablam. The landscape then transitions significantly as you enter higher-altitude terrain; vegetation becomes sparse, reflecting the alpine environment. This section involves steady uphill trekking before reaching the Sherpa settlement of Dingboche, the gateway to the Imja Valley.

Today is your second acclimatization day. You can rest at your teahouse and enjoy the beautiful surroundings overlooking the giant peak, or take short hikes.

For an immersive view of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Island Peak, you can hike to Chhukung Valley. This journey further takes you to the Chhukung Ri.

A hike to the Nagarjuna Hill is another alternative. This is a steep hike with challenging ascents. But this journey rewards you with an incredible mountain panorama and gives you a good view of Mount Makalu.

The trek to Lobuche starts with a short ascent. You will reach the ridge above Pheriche village. After crossing the ridge, you will hike side-by-side with the Khumbu Glacier. The hike ascends further toward the Thukla Hills, where you will find a memorial site dedicated to the climbers, trekkers, guides, and porters who perished in the Everest region before reaching Lobuche, where you will spend the night.

Today involves reaching the main goal: trekking to Everest Base Camp (5,364m). The trail follows the Khumbu Glacier moraine. While at EBC, soak in the atmosphere, see the icefall view (partially), and witness where Everest expeditions begin.

From the Everest Base Camp, take in the beautiful landscapes and views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers. After spending some time in the Everest Base Camp, you will return to Gorakshep to spend the night.

The pre-dawn hike to Kala Patthar (5,555m) is a highlight, renowned for the best sunrise view of Mount Everest and surrounding peaks. This Kala Patthar viewpoint offers arguably the most iconic close-up Everest perspective available to trekkers. Relish this once-in-a-lifetime moment before beginning your descent.

You will first return to Gorakshep for breakfast and head toward Pheriche.

The Pheriche to Namche trail takes you through rugged landscapes, glacial moraines, and alpine meadows, which later transition into lush forests. You will also cross the Imja Khola suspension bridge before reaching Tengboche. From Tengboche, you will continue your journey and reach Namche Bazaar. Overnight stay at Namche Bazaar.

You will retrace your steps to the point where you started your iconic journey to EBC. You will pass through the Himalayan terrain and Sherpa villages before reaching Lukla. Enjoy warm hospitality at your teahouse as you celebrate your incredible EBC trek completion.

You have come to the end of your incredible 14 days Everest Base Camp Trek. Today, you will fly back to bustling Kathmandu. Enjoy a scenic flight as the alpine terrain transitions into flatter plains.

From the Kathmandu airport, you will be transferred to your hotel. You can get some much-needed rest or explore Kathmandu before you return home. Overnight Stay in Kathmandu.

  • *Note: Lukla Flight Information: The unpredictable weather conditions in Lukla, natural calamities, and government rules can cause flight delays or cancellations. Adding two buffer days and carrying extra cash (up to USD 500) for your trek duration is strongly advised. The buffer days further help to avoid complications with your travel plans.
  • Helicopter Option: Helicopter options are available from Kathmandu and Manthali. For an extra cost, you can enjoy a luxurious helicopter transfer. This option saves time in case of bad weather or if you prefer not to travel to Manthali. (approximately USD 500 per person from Kathmandu on a shared basis, up to 5 passengers)

You will leave for your next destination today. Our representative will transfer you to the airport. Leave the hotel at least 3 hours before your scheduled departure time.
