Itinerary

It's the day when you arrive in one of the most beautiful countries in the world, Nepal. As your flight enters Nepal's territory, you can witness the beauty of nature, landscapes, and amazing settlements of the country. Upon landing at the Tribhuwan International Airport, you can meet Global Adventure Trekking's representatives will welcome you and transfer you to the hotel in Kathmandu. You can check in at the hotel and then explore the surrounding area.

In the evening, the GAT team will offer you a welcome dinner. After that, our guides will instruct you about the entire Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return route and map. Overnight stay and dinner will be arranged by the Global Adventure Trekking team in a three-star level hotel.

Our trekking journey starts on the second day but before that, the trekkers will fly from Tribhuwan International Airport (Kathmandu) to Tenzing and Hilary Airport (Lukla). The flight takes about 35 minutes to reach from Kathmandu to Lukla. Once you get off the plane in the Lukla Airport, you can see the guides waiting for you. Moreover, if you have hired a porter, this is where they accompany you from.

From Lukla, the guides will lead you on a 3-hour mind-blowing trek to the first checkpoint of the Everest region trek, Phakding. Phakding, a beautiful village settled by Sherpas, sits at an altitude of 2620 meters above sea level. This entire trip from Kathmandu to Phakding only takes 4 hours to complete. Therefore, the trekkers will have enough time to explore and rest in Phakding after checking in at the hotel arranged by the Global Adventure Trekking team.

Additional Information

During the peak season, there are chances of lesser availability of direct flights from Kathmandu to Lukla. So, as an alternative, we take the trekkers on a 5-hour drive to Ramechhap and then on a 20-minute flight to Lukla. Moreover, you can also charter a helicopter that drops you directly at Lukla Airport but costs an additional amount of money.

On the third day, the trekkers will leave Phakding and reach to the magical land of the entire Everest Trekking Region, Namche Bazaar. All the other checkpoints are mostly villages but this one is considered to be a town instead.

Once you reach this place, you will witness why Namche Bazaar is a magical Sherpa settlement in the Everest Region. Just imagine a highly developed area in the middle of the Himalayas with all the facilities like ATMs, internet cafes, all types of cuisines, and some of the best lodges. Doesn't that sound amazing? That's exactly what Namche Bazaar looks like.

It takes 7 to 8 hours to reach Namche Bazaar from Phakding where trekkers need to cover 12 kilometers. Therefore, if we start early in the morning, trekkers will have a lot of time to spend in Namche. Therefore, we encourage the trekkers to explore the area before having dinner and sleeping.

As the entire ascending journey of the Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter return resembles the classic Everest Base Camp 14-day Trek, we have arranged an acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar. So, on the fourth day, we do not ascend any further. Instead, the GAT team encourages trekkers to go for day hikes either to the Everest View Hotel or Khumjum Village.

Ascending to the Everest View Hotel takes you to the 5-star hotel at the highest altitude in the world. Moreover, this place also offers the closest and most pristine views of different mountains like Mt. Everest, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Cho-Oyu, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Tawache, etc. On the ascend to the Khumjum Village, you will be taken to another beautiful settlement at an altitude of 3790 meters above sea level.

Furthermore, trekkers can also explore several significant places in the Namche Bazaar like Everest Base Camp Tourist Visitor Center, and immerse into the lifestyle and culture of the Sherpa people living here. The Global Adventure Trekking team organizes dinner and overnight stays in the same hotel as on the previous day.

After spending a whole day and two nights in Namche Bazaar, we finally continued the ascend in the Everest Base Camp Trek with a Helicopter Return route. From here, the route might not be as you have been walking on. What we mean to say is that above Namche Bazaar, the trekking trail is more difficult, and barren, and the facilities are also limited.

Nevertheless, the positive side is that from here we get even closer and clearer views of different mountains including Mount Everest itself. Before reaching Tengboche, we will ascend on a gradual steep to reach Pungi Thanka. This is the place where trekkers will have lunch before ascending the the final destination on the fifth day of the Everest Base Camp Trek with a Helicopter Return. After lunch trekkers will ascend even further to witness the oldest Monastery of the entire Khumbu region, Tengboche Monastery. This is where you should realize that we have finally reached the final checkpoint of the fifth day.

It's a Boche to Boche trek on the sixth day of the Helicopter Return with Everest Base Camp Trek as we ascend from Tengboche to Dingboche. This part of the trek in the Everest region takes the trekkers through a birch, juniper, and rhododendron forest. Moreover, the trekkers also get a chance to visit the Buddhist nunnery and witness the most breathtaking views of different mountains from Deboche.

From there, we continue on the Everest Base Camp Trek with a Helicopter Return map through different chorten before reaching Pangboche. Pangboche is a beautifully settled village that offers the most magnificent and spectacular view of the Ama Dablam mountain. After Pangboche comes Shomare and then to see the Pumori's optical ridge from Orsho. Before we make our way to Dingboche, the trekkers will have to pass through several meadows and yak herder summer communities.

Dingboche is a chilly and windy village where if you reach in winter, you will experience a place full of snow. However, in the spring or summer season, you will green grasslands and yaks grazing. Ultimately, you will love this part of the Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return regardless if your visit is in the summer or winter season.

As this is a long and strenuous trekking trail in the Everest region, we believe that trekkers need at least two days of acclimatization. Therefore, we have planned an acclimatization (rest) day in Dingboche on the seventh day. This acclimatization day in Dingboche offers a chance to go for two alternative day hikes. You can either choose the optional hike to Nagarjuna Hill or a day hike to Chhukung Valley on this day.

These hikes are scheduled for this day to help trekkers adapt to the temperature, weather, and climatic conditions at the higher altitude. Moreover, these hikes also prepare the trekkers with endurance capacity. The optional hike to Nagarjuna Hill offers a magical view of different mountains like Mt. Makalu, Mt. Lobuche, Thamserku, Ama Dablam, and others. Besides, trekkers can also explore the surrounding areas of Dingboche and Imja Village. By the end of the day, we suggest all the trekkers to return to the hotel and guesthouse in Dingboche.

From this part, the route of the Everest Base Camp with Helicopter Return becomes a little more barren with comparatively very little settlement and extreme temperature. Therefore, we recommend the trekkers be very careful and trek according to the instructions offered by the guide. The route first ascends to reach Thukla but before that, we will also come across a huge pass. From Thukla, the difficult and comparatively hard-to-ascend path takes us to Chupki Lara.

This part of the Helicopter Return after the Everest Base Camp Trek route has many prayer flag-covered stones. These stones are placed there as tributes to American mountaineer Scott Fischer and Nepali mountain guide Babu Chiri Sherpa who lost their lives attempting to ascend Everest. From there, the trail takes us all the way to the Khumbu Glacier Moraine. Let us tell you that the Khumbu Glacier offers mind-blowing peaks of Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori, and Mahalangur Himal. Within a few hours, we will reach a rather gentle route taking us to Lobuche.

Finally, it was the day all the trekkers had been waiting for as on the ninth day, we reached the Everest Base Camp. The trail first ascends from Lobuche to Gorakshep, the final checkpoint before EBC. we will spend a little time here and explore the surrounding views of the mountains and landscapes. After that, the trekkers go for another 3 hours of walking in the most difficult part of this journey. As we reach the Everest Base Camp, you can witness a lot of tents set up by the climbers on their way to the peak of Mount Everest (8850 meters).

Spend some time in the Base Camp, capturing as many memories as possible, and explore the area. Moreover, you can also interact with the climbers and get to know more about mountains, especially about Everest. We will not spend much time in the Everest Base Camp due to the uncertain weather conditions. Therefore, our next walk will be back to Gorakshep. Overnight stay and dinner will be served at Gorakshep before returning to Kathmandu.

How has the journey been till today? Well, you are on the last day of the Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return Package with Global Adventure Trekking. On this day, you will wake up early in the morning and ascend to Kalapatthar viewpoint before breakfast.

That is because this is a sunrise view hike to the Kalapatthar viewpoint. Upon reaching the Kalapatthar viewpoint, the trekkers can experience one of the best sunrise views striking the peak of Everest and also the most clear view of Mount Everest. As the Kalapatthar viewpoint is located at an even higher altitude than EBC, the weather conditions and climatic change are unforeseen here as well.

So after spending some time and capturing a lot of memories, trekkers will again descend lower to Gorakshep. After reaching the hotel in Gorakshep and having breakfast, our representatives will take you to the helipad from where the trekkers will return to Kathmandu. This officially ends the Everest Base Camp with a Helicopter Return Package with Global Adventure Trekking.

Difficulty Level of Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return Journey

Everest Base Camp's difficulty level is nothing less than challenging. Ascending to an altitude of 5555 meters (Kalapatthar) and walking for about 9 days is not an easy task to do. However, trekkers will have two acclimatization days to rest and adapt to the weather and climatic conditions at much higher altitudes.

The route starts getting even worse as we ascend above Namche Bazaar due to extreme temperature, barren lands, steep climbs, and unforeseen weather changes. However, as you reach the Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar viewpoint, you will forget all the tiredness. If it was a regular Everest Base Camp Trek, trekkers would have to walk for 4-5 more days. However, as this is a helicopter return trek, trekkers can enjoy one of the most luxurious returns from the Everest region after they explore EBC and Kalapatthar.

Transportation Facilities During Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return

There are three ways of transportation in Nepal for Everest region trekking; by helicopter, by plane, and by bus or private vehicle. Which is the Best Season for an Everest Base Camp Trek with a Helicopter Return?

Trekking in Nepal is best if we do that during the spring season (March to May) and Autumn season (September to November). These two seasons are perfect for walking in the Himalayas, especially in the Everest region. Besides, trekkers can also find almost all the accommodation hubs like hotels and guesthouses open and serving. Such clear skies, green landscapes, and clear and pristine views of the mountains, waterfalls, and rivers, make these seasons ideal for the Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return.

Other than that, if you are open to challenges and a little bit of obstacles, you can also choose the winter season (late November to February), In this season, you might face several difficulties like slippery route, barren lands, less greenery, snowfall in the higher altitude, etc. However, while returning this is the best during the winter as helicopter flights are merely halted by the winter season or snowy weather.
Food and Accommodation during the EBC with Helicopter Return trek

Nutritious food and comfortable accommodation are two of the most important factors that positively or negatively impact the success and enjoyment rate of any trek or tour. Therefore, the Global Adventure Trekking team arranges the best food and accommodation throughout the Everest Base Camp Trek with a Helicopter Return excursion.

How to Stay Safe from Altitude Sickness during the Everest Base Camp with Helicopter Return Trek?

If you are at the final stage or highly influenced by altitude sickness, you must seek emergency evacuation. However, if you get any of these symptoms that mark the beginning possibilities of altitude sickness, please follow the given steps to be safe:
