The Mardi Himal Trek used to be accessed only by limited trekking groups with tents and catering teams for a long time. The trek follows off the beaten trails of shepherds, as it still provides summer grazing. Mardi Himal Base Camp trek was officially opened in 2012 and is still a pristine and hidden treasure of Annapurna. There are limited teahouses with basic facilities en route. This is a relatively easy, short, and unspoiled trek not far from Pokhara Lake City. Less challenging than the trek to nearby Annapurna Base Camp. Yet it is highly diverse with cultural insight and beautiful forest walks with Rhododendron, Orchid, and alpine landscapes. As the trail mostly stays along the ridge, the altitude gain becomes more gradual.

After being at the Mardi Himal Base Camp Viewpoint, we come back to Forest Camp and follow the trails to the Natural Hot Spring, where you can have a natural bath in the pool. The pool is about half an hour away from the local village on the bank of Modi Khola. The lodge is clean and comfortable with an electricity facility and an auspicious dining hall. The place offers an amazing view of Mardi and in front, the biggest Ghandruk village is smiling at you.

After having your pleasant overnight stay at Jhinu Danda, we descend to Kimring Khola and continue to Syauli Bazar. After the Syauli Bazar, the path is flat and easy to Birethanti, where we will stop for lunch. Walk about half an hour from Birethanti to Nayapul and take a bus to Pokhara. The most beautiful wilderness trek in the Annapurna region. This trek is accomplished within 5 days from Pokhara. Happy Holidays!

Mardi Himal and Hot Spring Trek Itinerary

Upon your arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, our representative will welcome you with a vibrant garland of marigold flowers. And transfer to the Hotel for an enjoyable and comfortable stay.

After breakfast, leave the Kathmandu Valley and travel overland to Pokhara. Follow the banks of the Trisuli River and cross the traditional villages and terraced fields. If the weather is good, there will be picturesque views of the Himalayan Range.

After lunch on the way, we keep driving to Pokhara, check into your hotel, and then head out to explore the lakeside and relax over dinner. Pokhara, set on Fewa Lake, is an enchanting city. From there, you can see Mt. Machhapuchhare (22,890 ft./6977 m.), also known as Fishtail Peak. The city is the starting point for many treks in Nepal. The valley surrounding Pokhara is home to thick forests, gushing rivers, clear lakes, and world-famous views of the Himalayas.

As you finish breakfast, you will have picturesque landscapes and mountain views along the way. It is just a short drive, and once you are at the Kande, we will start your hike to Pothana through the vibrant Australian camp. It is about a 3-hour walk to Pothana. (1,950 m) Your first night's accommodation has a wonderful view of the Machhapuchare and Annapurna ranges.

Today's trek heads off into the wilderness, leaving tourists, other trekkers, and even villagers behind. Enter an enchanted forest of birch, giant rhododendron, mountain oak, maple, and hemlock. If the weather is clear, there will be stunning mountain views while trekking

As the route climbs, the flora turns to classic ‘cloud forest’ with mosses and lichen, tree ferns, and orchids hosted by the harder trees. There are natural windows in the woods that look out onto thrilling panoramas towards Hiunchuli and the knife-sharp traverse towards Annapurna South. Far below, to your left, you will be able to see the Modi Khola Valley leading up into the Annapurna Sanctuary.

Reach camp for lunch—this is our destination for the day, spending the afternoon at altitude for acclimatization. Though still surrounded by forest, there are spectacular northerly views of the ever-closer ‘Fishtail.

Just a short, steep climb, and you are out of the forest. A ridge, grassy and sometimes covered in snow, leads up to High Camp. Reach by lunchtime and spend the afternoon acclimatizing to awesome views. Annapurna South will seem a stone's throw away, and Machhapuchare is close enough to touch.

Have an early breakfast and then set off for Mardi Himal Base Camp. If conditions are favorable, you will trek up to 4,500 m, where only the crest of Mardi Himal separates you from the south face of Machhapuchare. The great ice fields and blue glaciers of the Sanctuary Wall lie below. Annapurna I, the highest of all, is beyond, and the surrounding panorama sweeps from Dhaulagiri to Ganesh Himal.  In the early afternoon, it will be time to descend. Enjoy a warming drink and hot food at your tea house at Middle Camp.

Today, we are only descending to Landruk through the dense forest. It is about 8 to 10 km. walking, which takes around 4 hours. Landruck is a vibrant and fascinating village with multicultural people living there. You will have more facilities here, as this is part of the Annapurna Base Camp trek.

After having breakfast, we will trek through the rice terraced fields to the forest, cross the Modi River, and the trail goes uphill all the way to the hot spring. The jungle walk is beautiful and pleasant, with moss, orchids, bamboo, and many more. You will cross the longest suspension bridge of Nepal, just before Jhinu Danda. Check in at the guest house and get ready for the natural hot spring, which will take about half an hour downhill to the spring, which is just at the bank of the Modi River. Enjoy your bath in nature.

As soon as breakfast is done, we will start our trek. It is a beautiful day hike to Berethanti for 3 hours. Along the way, you could see picturesque landscapes, rivers, waterfalls, and small settlements. You will stop at Birethanti for lunch, which is a vibrant town and the gateway to Annapurna base camp trek. Take a bus/car to Pokhara, which is about 45 km. Once you reach Pokhara, Evening explore in the Lakeside and enjoy your last night with your trek team.

You have the option of choosing whether you prefer to take a regular 8-hour tourist bus to Kathmandu or buy flight tickets to return to Kathmandu. A flight takes about half an hour. Evening, participate in farewell!

The Global Adventure Trekking Team is always there for your farewell greetings with the hope to see once again in Nepal for another great time. As we promised, we arrange your airport transfer as per your schedule. Thank you for taking our services, and wishing you a safe and pleasant journey to your onward destination.
