Itinerary

After breakfast, you will go on a Kathmandu Sightseeing tour with our experienced tour guide. During this one-day trip, you will visit cultural and religious hubs like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Swyambhunath Stupa/Monkey Temple, and the Boudhanath Stupa. The Pashupati Temple is a revered Hindu temple. Meanwhile, just a few minutes from Pashupati, the Baudha Stupa is a famous Buddhist pilgrimage and a bustling youth junction.

Today, you will approach closer to the Himalayas by taking a scenic 8-hour jeep ride to Dhap. On the way, you will pass small towns and local villages. While most sections are black-topped and offer a comfortable ride, you will encounter off-road sections that add a bit of thrill to the journey.

After reaching Dhap, you will head to your cozy teahouse, where you will spend the night.

The trek from Dhap to Jhapre takes you into the scenic trails of the Pikey Peak trek. You will walk along the lush forests and pass Sherpa villages. On the way, you will also find an incredible view of the landscape, including the Himalayan foothills. You can further explore Buddhist monasteries that you will find in the local villages and soak in the peaceful aura.

After a brief 4-hour hike, you will reach the charming village of Jhapre. Here, you will find yourself surrounded by prayer flags and mani walls. Take in the first authentic mountain house experience as you head to bed in the local Jhapre teahouse.

The 5th day’s trek takes you from Jhapre to Pikey Peak base Camp. This rewarding journey passes through the dramatic Himalayan landscapes. On the journey, you will find lush rhododendron forests, bridges over the mountain streams, and get glimpses of the mighty Everest and other surrounding peaks.

As you move further, you will pass yak pastures and Buddhist stupas before reaching the Pikey Peak Base Camp. The 6-hour journey comes to an end at your teahouse. Enjoy a warm cup of local Nepali tea, enjoying the stunning sunset view over the Himalayan panorama.

Today, you will uncover the highlight of the Pikey Peak Trek in Nepal. Begin your pre-dawn ascent to Pikey Peak summit to catch the first rays of the sun over the Himalays. As you reach the summit, you will find one of Nepal’s most breathtaking panoramas of Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, and other surrounding peaks illuminating under the golden hues of the rising sun.

Take in this Himalayan spectacle before beginning your descent through the pine forests and Sherpa villages. After about 6 hours of trek, you will reach Junbesi.

On the rest day, you can spend the day at your hotel, exploring the nearby villages. However, we recommend a hike to Thupten Chhiling Monastery through scenic pine forests. The trail passes through streams, waterfalls, and bridges before reaching the ancient monastery. Upon reaching this Buddhist pilgrimage site, you will discover a moss-covered stone with an ancient script. Explore the monastery and take in the peaceful ambiance before retracing your steps to Junbesi.

After breakfast in Junbesi, you will begin your descent along the dusty path leading to the Junbesi River. After crossing the river, you will reach Beni Ghat, then to Phaplu, where you will spend a night in the local teahouse.

YourPikey Peak Trekking adventure concludes with a breathtaking 30-minute morning flight from Phaplu to Kathmandu, offering aerial views of the Himalayas as a final farewell. After reaching the Kathmandu Airport, our representatives will transfer you to your hotel. You can spend the rest of the day exploring the vibrant tourist hub of Thamel and shopping for souvenirs. In the evening, you will meet with your trekking team for a farewell dinner.

You have come to the end of the 10-day Pikey Peak Trek, and it’s time to depart to your next destination. A representative from Global Adventure Trekking will pick you up to transfer to the airport.

When to Go on the Pikey Peak Trekking in Nepal 2025 and 2026?

The best time for Pikey Peak trek is in spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). You will find ideal conditions in both seasons, making your trek comfortable and memorable.

In spring, you can expect the temperatures to hover between 12°C to 20°C during the day. The temperatures can drop to a minimum of -5°C at higher altitudes. A warm sleeping bag and layers are recommended. The vivid rhododendron blossoms make the journey further enchanting.

Likewise, autumn has similar conditions with colder nights. Compared to the rest of the year, autumn brings clearer views of the Himalayan panorama. However, the temperatures may be slightly colder in the autumn months.

Pikey Peak Trail Nepal: Weather Pattern and Best Trekking Seasons (2025 and 2026 Updates)

  • Avoid monsoon (June-August) when landslides disrupt trails.
  • Spring (March to May): Temperatures between 5°C to 15°C in lower regions and - 5 °C in higher regions.
  • Autumn (September to November): Temperatures can reach a minimum of -2°C to -10°C in higher altitudes. Expect clear skies but colder nights.
  • For 2025 and 2026 updates, high chances of snow, especially in higher elevations.

Pikey Peak Trek Accommodations

The Pikey Peak trek allows you to experience authentic hospitality in cozy teahouses and mountain lodges. These establishments are run by the local families and offer clean rooms with basic amenities, communal dining space, and stunning mountain views.

The teahouses are simple, but the warm Sherpa hospitality makes the experience worth it. As you climb to a higher elevation, you will also find heated common rooms where you can relax after a day of trekking the Pikey Peak trails.

Extra Facilities

  • Electricity and Charging: The Pikey Peak Trek accommodations provide basic but functional facilities, including electricity and charging facilities. Lower villages like Dhap, Jhapre, and Junbesi have reliable solar-powered electricity in teahouses. Charging your devices is available at a small fee of USD 2-3 per device. In higher altitude regions, the power may be limited. Consider charging power banks in the lower villages.
  • Wifi and Mobile Network: WiFi and mobile network facilities in the Pikey Peak Trek in Nepal are available. However, the speed may be compromised. Your teahouse may have a fast internet connection, which may cost between USD 3 to USD 5. The best option is to buy a Nepal Telecom SIM in Kathmandu.

Nepal Pikey Peak Trek Food

During the 10-day Pikey Peak Trek, you will find a mix of cuisines. While Kathmandu offers a plethora of selections, the trekking routes have simple but nutritious options. The Dal Bhat is a staple in every destination. Apart from the classic Nepali food, you will also find Tibetan soups, thukpa, and the ever-popular momo.

If you have special food requests, you can consult with a Global Adventure Trekking representative before the trek.

Drinking Water during the Pikey Peak Trek

During the Pikey Peak Trek in the Himalayas, it is crucial to stay hydrated. You should confirm that the water is safe to drink.

Bottled water is available throughout the trek, but we recommend buying filtered or boiled drinking water from teahouses. This saves the cost and is also an environmentally friendly practice.

Natural sources like streams and taps are also common. However, this could upset your stomach or cause illnesses.

Use the following for environmental sustainability and safety:

  • Reusable bottles
  • Water purification medicines like Steripen (UV purifier)
  • Chlorine/Iodine tablets
  • Portable filters.
