Helambu Trek encompasses the Langtang Helambu region, home of Sherpas Hyolmo. Though located only a few kilometers away from Kathmandu, it remains serene and isolated, unlike the bustling city. The Helambu trek is a relatively low-altitude trek and therefore, in many ways, much easier than many other trekking options in the Langtang and Helambu regions. It is also one of the most well-located short treks due to its proximity to Kathmandu.
The highest point of the Helambu trek is Tharepati, which is at a height of, 3,600 m. Most of the trekking trail lies at an altitude range of 800 m to 3,000 m. Helambu trek offers an insight into the Sherpa Hyolmo culture and beautiful Rhododendron and bamboo forests, waterfalls, and snow-capped Himalayas. You will also come across Buddhist monasteries in Tarke Ghang and Melamchi Village. Simply put, you can extend this Helambu trek with the Langtang Helambu trek, Ganjala pass trek, and Gosainkunda Lake trek.
