Flight to Lukla

The flight to Lukla mostly departs from Kathmandu domestic airport in the morning. It is just an hour's flight into the world's most adventurous airstrip. The aircraft is a small twin otter that carries about 16 passengers. This is the way to the Everest base camp in the Khumbu region. The morning flight offers the best view of mountains, including Gaurishankar, Langtang Range, Makalu, Thamserku, Kusum Kangaroo, and many more.

Namche Bazar Village

After landing at Lukla, the EBC trek will begin with your guide and supported trek crew towards the northern part. This is a beautiful and easy day of the trek. Pass the small village of Chaurikharka, Chipling, and reach Phakding for your overnight stay. These villages are inhabited by the Sherpa people. In every village, there is a monastery, a Mani wall, and painting boulders. Namche Bazar is the getway to the Sagarmatha National Park trek. Tengboche Monastery

Tengboche Monastery is the biggest Monastery in the Everest region of Nepal, situated at 3,870 m. It was built by Lama Gulu in 1916. This Monastery was destroyed by an earthquake in 1934 and subsequently rebuilt. Again, in 1989, the monastery was destroyed by fire and rebuilt with the help of volunteers and international assistance. Every year, the Mane Rimdu festival is celebrated in November. This is also the best scenic viewpoint of the Everest region trek.

Everest Base Camp and Khumbu Glacier

Standing at an altitude of 8,848 m, Everest is the tallest mountain on earth. Base camp (5,300 m) is a rudimentary campsite for Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse expeditions. The base camp is beside the Khumbu Glacier (the biggest glacier), where you can see the tented camp on the ice floors.

Gokyo Lake is a freshwater lake at an altitude of 4,700 m that takes about 10 days to hike. The view from Gokyo Ri is amazing, and there are no words to describe it. Besides the Gokyo Lake, there are a few more things to explore, like Cho Oyu Base Camp, the 5th Lake, and the longest Ngozumpa Glacier, which are the highlights of the trek.
