Itinerary

On the first day, we go for an adventurous and must-experience drive from Kathmandu to Dharapani. Dharapani is located at an altitude of 1920 meters above sea level and it takes about 10 hours for the tourist bus to reach this town. On the journey, we will pass through several settlements, hills, valleys, and such amazing views nature offers.

The drive follows the Kathmandu-Pokhara highway up until Dumre. From there, we take a different path which is narrower but paved, and go beside the Marshyangdi River up until Besisahar. The journey to Besisahar is comfortable as we will be driving over a paved, black-topped road. However, the road from Besisahar to Dharapani will not be as comfortable as the previous section.

Overnight stay and dinner will be arranged by the Global Adventure Trekking team in Dharapani.

We begin the trekking journey on the second day of the Nar Phu Valley Trekking route. The route ascends from Dharapani to another beautiful settlement located at an altitude of 2600 meters, Koto. This section of the 10-Day Nar Phu Valley Trekking trail continues along a river bank and takes us past Fir, Oak, and Maple forests. Within the first hour of the walk, we will step our feet in a village named Bagarchhap. It's a beautiful settlement perfect to stay for a while and have some snacks. As we continue ascending the Nar Phu Valley Trekking route, the trekkers will also witness a beautiful Tibetan monastery.

As time goes on and we keep walking, the trail passes through a pine forest before crossing two settlements; Danakyu and Timang. It takes about 6 hours for us to complete this section of the Nar Phu Valley Trekking journey.

Overnight stay and dinner will be arranged by the Global Adventure Trekking team as per your preferences in Koto.

Another day calls for another adventurous day in the trekking route to Nar Phu Valley. As you have your breakfast in the hotel, our guides will take you on a trail that leads towards Meta. The distance between Koto and Meta is about 20 kilometers, which means that the trekkers will have to walk a little more than usual. So, prepare yourself very well because it will be a total walk of about 8 to 9 hours on the third day of the Nar Phu Valley Trek.

As we begin the journey, the trail passes through rhododendron and oak forests leading towards a more difficult section. This section of the Nar Phu Valley Trekking trail goes by the Soti Khola bank and is separate from the classic Annapurna Circuit Trekking journey. Furthermore, the trekkers shall also get their permits and paperwork checked in between the trail from Koto to Meta. As you walk further from Koto, the trail passes through several suspension bridges, waterfalls, woods, and even more difficult uphills. Then comes another village named Dharmashala.

We need to walk for 1.5 more hours from Dharmashala to reach Meta and the trail goes through dense trees and rocky slopes. As you reach Meta, you will find yourself in a beautiful Tibetan village, highly influenced by Tibetan tradition and culture. Other than that, this beautiful village also offers a picturesque view of mightily Annapurna and Lamjung Himal.

On the fourth day, the trekkers will make their way towards Phu Gaon. Right as we leave Meta and get on the trail, we will have to walk past several Tibetan chorten and flying prayer flags. After that, we will have to go through several ups and downs before finally reaching a village named Chyakhu. However, before reaching Chyakhu, we will have to cross a suspension bridge and a couple of beautiful villages of Naar Phedi and Jhunum. From there, the route takes us to Kyang, a village that offers the most magical view of Annapurna II.

After walking for a few more hours, the trekkers will be walking over the Phu Khola and a Tibetan fortress before reaching the Phu Gate, an entrance to the Phu Gaon. The Nar and Phu villages offer such unique blend of Sherpa and Tibetan cultures along with warm hospitality from the locals. Besides, we also recommend the trekkers take a quick visit to the Tashi Lakhang Monastery while watching the most spectacular views of different mountains, including Himlung Himal.

Today is the day to rest and acclimatize. We will not ascend any further on the fifth day because adapting to higher altitude is a must. In that verge, the trekkers will stay back in Phu Gaon and go for a stroll. Interact with the locals. Check out the settlements, and also try out some amazing delicacies prepared by the locals.

Other than that, the Global Adventure Trekking team also recommends all the trekkers to go for a day hike to Tashi Lhakhang. This is a short hike as Tashi Lhakhang is just 3 to 4 kilometers far from Phu Gaon. However, if you want to go for a little more adventure, you can also ascend to the Himlung Base Camp. On the acclimatization day, the trekkers also get a chance to visit the historic Tibetan Monastery in Tashi. By the evening, we request all the trekkers to return to the hotel in Phu Gaon for dinner and an overnight stay.

Now that we have reached Phu Gaon, it's time to visit the Nar Gaun as well. For that, we will first have to make our way to Nar Phedi. Nar Phedi is located at an altitude of 3550 meters above sea level and the distance between these two villages is approximately 18.5 kilometers. To cover this distance, trekkers need to walk for about 7 hours. This section of the Nar Phu Valley Trekking map offers great chances to witness snow-covered mountains along with several traditional villages.

A little to descend and we will reach Mahendra Pul before making our way to Nar Phedi. Let us tell you that the Mahendra Pul is an 80-meter-long bridge over the Lapche River. As we approach Nar Phedi, we will see Gyalbu Kumbu, Nar Phedi Monastery, and Satte Gompa. Overnight stay and dinner will be arranged in a hotel or lodge at Nar Phedi by the GAT team.

Nar Village is one of the two major destinations of the entire Nar Phu Valley Trekking package and on the seventh day, we will make our way to the Nar Village. the route from Nar Phedi Nar Village gives some amazing glimpses of the snow-capped Kang Garu summit. Furthermore, several Mani Walls, Gompas, and mud-walled cottages also accompany your walk to the Nar Village. Take your time to stroll around the village and interact with the locals.

It only takes 3 hours for us to reach Nar Village, so, you can also utilize the rest of the time to explore four monasteries and Chortens in this region. While you do all of these activities, Pisang Peak, Amotsang Himal, Kang Garo, and Pokhar Khang will be watching you with great pride. However, we recommend trekkers not waste much energy and take some rest on this day. That's because you will need some extra energy for the next day's hike to Kang La Pass.

Enjoy a delicious dinner before sleeping in the hotel or guesthouse arranged by the Global Adventure Trekking team.

It is finally the most anticipated day of the entire Nar Phu Vally Trekking package as we will go for a day hike to Kang La Pass. This is one of the highest mountain passes in the Himalayas of Nepal specifically in the Annapurna Trekking region. The Kang La Pass is located at an altitude of 5320 meters above sea level. Due to that reason, this section of the Nar Phu Valley Trek might always be covered with snow. However, one thing is sure the trekkers will not find any vegetation or greenery.

Talking about the trail from Nar to Kang La Pass starts with a beautiful scenes and scenarios passing through several yak meadows and the Temdenzon Khola's lateral moraine. From there, we will go past the Kang La Phedi, otherwise known as Jhombu Kharka. During this hike, the trekkers will be presented with spectacular views of Annapurna II, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, peaks surrounding Tilicho, Marsyangdi Valley, and Hunde airport. Once you spend some quality time on the Kang La Pass, the Sherpa guides will take you on a descending trail to Ngawal.

Overnight stay and dinner will be done in Ngawal.

Even though the ascending journey was quite difficult and slower, the descending journey will be exactly the opposite of that. We will take only one day to descend from Ngawal to Pisang. However, the journey of the day does not end there. From Pisang, the trekkers will board a sharing jeep and go for a drive to Besisahar.

Trekkers will be at an altitude of 3660 meters above sea level when the day begins and end up being at an altitude of 760 meters by the end of the day. With that, we will almost come to the end of the 10-day Nar Phu Valley Trekking. However, we will spend one last night in the Annapurna region before returning to Kathmandu.

Finally, it's the last day of the trek which begins with a fulfilling breakfast. After breakfast, the guides from Global Adventure Trekking will take you to the bus station. From there, the trekkers will return to Kathmandu of Pokhara via bus. This marks the official and successful accomplishment of the 10-Day Nar Phu Valley Trekking package with GAT.
