Ghalegaun (2100m) is a traditional Himalayan village inhabited by Gurung ethnic community famous for homestay or village tourism. The village is located in Kaski district of Annapurna region, northeast of Lamjung Himal (6983m).

The main highlights of Ghalegaun Trek are experiencing the culture of Gurung ethnic community as well as enjoying splendid views of snowcapped Himalayan peaks. The trek begins from Besisahar, a 4 hours drive from Kathmandu and ends at Begnas Lake in the beautiful city of Pokhara. The trail passes through several villages such as Ghalegaun, Pasgaun, Nadhighar, Pakhurikot which offer heartwarming village tourism facilities. You will be heartily welcomed by the Gurung community in all villages and arranged to stay in one of their homestay facilities that are run and maintained by local people.

Cultural dance programs such as Ghatu, Jyaru, Serka, Dohori will be performed by dancers group of the community. You will also enjoy local cuisines that are organic and involve yourself in the rural lifestyle of village people. The Ghalegaun trek passes through pristine forests and green hills buzzing with wildlife. Along the trek, you will capture impressive views of Annapurna I (8,091m), Mt. Machhapucchre (6,693m), Annapurna II (7,939m), Manaslu (8163m), Lumjung Himal, Himalchuli (6,747m) among others.

Other places of interest in Ghalegaun Homestay Trek are Gurung Museum, tea garden, local woollen handicraft, bird watching and visiting Buddhist and Hindu temples.

Day 01: Arrivals and transfer to hotel

GAT staffs will meet you at Kathmandu Airport (TIA) upon your arrival and transfer to Hotel. In the afternoon tour briefing followed by a stroll around local market.

Today you will explore Kathmandu Valley by visiting world Heritage sites including Monkey Temple, Pashupatinath Temple and Buddhanath Stupa

Drive to Khudi on Prithivi highway enjoying beautiful scenery of the mountains, rivers, waterfalls, jungle and villages. Stay overnight at the lodge.

The trekking route runs along the bank of the Khudi river occasionally passing through forest and many waterfalls. It takes 4 hrs to reach Ghalegaun village. Ghalegaun is a beautiful settlement of Gurung ethnic community. Explore village in the evening.

Today after breakfast you will start your journey back to Khudi. This time only you will go by way of Sano Khudi river.

Have a warm breakfast and take a bus ride back to Kathmandu. You will reach Kathmandu in the afternoon.

After having hygienic breakfast at your hotel, begins the bus riding from Kathmandu to Beshisahar, which is through the Prithivi High way about 150 Km and walk to Khudi 2 hrs. walking which is a kind of warm up day of the trek. Over night at Guest house.

Group Size, guide and crew member:

We organize Ghalegaun Trek for single people to maximum 16 people at once or even if you have more than 16 people then we can split the group in to two or more groups (according to the number of trekkers) however you all can walk together and stay at same guest house and there are only different guide, and there are 1 guide up to 10 people and 2 guides for 11-16 people.

Trek as an Individual, Private Group or Join a Scheduled Trek:

Global Adventure Trekking specializes in organizing treks for individuals, couples, and small groups. You can trek by yourself as a private group on the date you select without paying extra, or you can choose to join a small group that is scheduled during your preferred time frame. We also now and then arrange groups on dates other than those shown on this schedule so feel free to contact us to inquire about other possible dates for group treks that you might be able to join.

Accommodation During Ghalegaun Trek:

 Accommodation at the local lodge known as Guesthouse is simple but comfortable. Toilet and washing facility are shared. In the guesthouse, travellers are provided twin sharing room with twin beds, mattress, and pillow. In some places, guest house depends on solar power. Hot shower facility is available in some guesthouse for a price but occasionally hot shower means a bucket of hot water which is enough to wash your body. Electricity and Wi-Fi are available in some place for an additional cost.

Passport and Visa: 

All the traveler should have a 6-month validity passport. Visa can obtain on your upon arrival in Kathmandu Airport. Visa cost 25 USD, 40 USD, 100USD for 15, 30 and 90 days respectively.
